Tinisha Brugnone, founder of the Cinematic Griot Collective and the Idlewild International Film Festival, is an award-winning Director, Producer, and Screenwriter from Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in "Media Arts and Studies" from Wayne State University, with a concentration in Film Production.

Upon graduating from Wayne State University, Ms. Brugnone focused on writing and storytelling. In late 2015, her screenplay “Top Shelf” was selected out of 150 applicants to be one of 12 screenplays included in the Inaugural "Detroit Sundance Writing Intensive Workshop,” under the instruction of filmmaker Joan Tewkesbury.

In 2018, Tinisha launched The Cinematic Griot Collective, a network of filmmakers, artists, and other creatives. Through this collective, she cultivated relationships with like-minded individuals dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices. Building on this momentum, in 2019, she organized the pilot event for the “Idlewild International Film Festival," which attracted diverse film enthusiasts and received rave reviews, with attendees traveling from as far as Washington, D.C., to Michigan.

Currently, Tinisha is a freelance filmmaker and writer working in the Metro Detroit area, frequently serving as a liaison for out-of-state production companies. Her expertise spans various aspects of filmmaking, including production, field producing, editing, videography, and directing. She also recently completed her first book, Pimpette Chronicles: A Modern Black Woman’s Guide to Dating Safely and Navigating These Mean Streets, which is slated to be released in Fall 2022.

In addition to her filmmaking and writing endeavors, Tinisha has joined AATK Collective as the curator for "A Woman’s Style - Tinisha's Closet." Her innovative approach and commitment to storytelling continue to make her a vital force in both the creative and fashion spaces.
